Add-ons Manager Extensions and Themes

The new Add-ons Manager improves the user interface for managing extensions and themes, which makes it even easier for you to customize Firefox 2. Install, remove, enable and disable your add-ons to a single location.

Search Manager

You can now quickly add, remove and re-order your search engines in the search bar. Firefox 2 will also detect if a website has a search engine that can be installed, and will install them for you with a simple click on the menu.

Enjoy a Better Web Experience

There is much to do on the Web, and Firefox 2 is full of useful features to make your time online more productive.

Improved tabbed browsing

We love tabs as much as you, if Firefox 2 open new Web pages in tabs by default. Each of these tabs has its own close button, but do not worry - if you accidentally close a tab, just go to the History menu to reduce the list of “recently closed tabs.” You’ll never be crunched for more space whatsoever. When you have too many tabs open to adapt comfortably in a single window, scroll arrows appear on each side and a button on the right side will always show you an easy to read a list of all your open tabs.

Restore session

To lose your place while you’re doing things on the Web is a pain. Now, with session restore, if Firefox restart or closes when you look back exactly where you left off. The windows and tabs that you use the text entered into forms, and in furthering the downloads you will all be restored functioning. You can even configure Firefox 2 to always restore your previous session instead of loading a page, so you can never lose your place.

Spellcheck

Sometimes you’re in a rush, and can not remember if it is “i” before “e” or vice versa. Firefox 2 has built-in spell checking to prevent you from making mistakes in your blog posts and Web-based e-mail, so you can worry about more important things.

Suggestions research

Some search engines in Firefox 2 can read your thoughts and, in fact, suggest search terms for what you are looking for. Just start typing in the search bar and a drop-down list of suggestions appears. (Works for Google, Yahoo! And Answers.com.)

Web Feeds (RSS)

What is news, podcasts, indie rock, and pictures of kittens have in common? They are all things that you can subscribe to Web feed. Firefox 2 gives you full control over the Web feed, showing you a preview and let you choose how you want to subscribe. You can use a Firefox Live Bookmark, or a feed reader that you have installed on your computer, or through a Web service, such as My Yahoo, Google Reader or Bloglines.

Live Titles

Keep an eye on this auction or the status of a delivery using the new feature in Live Titles Firefox 2. Compact enough to fit as a favorite label, Live titles are regularly updated summary of key information on a Web page. As the information on the page is updated, so your title. Integrated Search

Firefox lets you find anything that you’re looking. The search bar is pre-loaded with search engines for Google, Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, Answers.com, and Creative Commons. Wherever you are on the Web, you can enter a search term in the search bar and receive an immediate response search engine that you have chosen. You can select a new search engine on the search bar menu at any time, and add search engines of hundreds of your favorite websites.

Live Bookmarks

Firefox Live Bookmarks let you view a Web feed such as news and blog headlines in the bookmarks toolbar or menu. At a glance, quickly review the latest titles from your favorite sites and click to go directly to articles that interest you.

Pop-up Blocker

Firefox allows you to keep control of Web pages you’re viewing, blocking pop-ups. Firefox’s pop-up blocker notifies you when pop-ups are blocked by the information bar or icon in the lower right corner.

Interface simplified

The user interface Firefox 2 has been updated to improve usability without altering the knowledge of the surfing experience.

Accessibility

Firefox offers a better browsing experience for everyone - including those who are visually impaired. Firefox includes support for DHTML accessibility. Developers can create Web pages that reduce the amount of tabs to navigate a document to minimize keystrokes for people with mobility disabilities. Firefox also includes support for Microsoft Active Accessibility, Microsoft’s accessibility API standard for Windows. This support allows Firefox to work with screen readers such as GW Micro Window-Eyes and Freedom Scientific’s JAWS.
